Friend from the F355 crowd wanted to do a drive early this morning, so I reluctantly obliged as I do miss hearing the shriek of the Capristo exhaust.

Turned out pretty decent, traffic was tolerable and I have reaffirmed the F355’s supreme reign of street car noises, even if it meant smelling its fumes from behind for most of the drive. Less harmful than COVID-19, I suppose?

Pre- pandemic Alice’s was always packed on the weekend. I loved it. My motorcycle friends, and sometime a car or two, would stop there on our way to Santa Cruz or Pacifica. Good times.

Pandemic Alice’s still gets pretty packed! They opened new bathrooms and have a really decent outdoor dining setup (there are now tables in the grassy area out back) . I’d say they’re doing really well all things considered.

It’s a great place. People whine and moan about the “heavy police presence” these days, giving speeding tickets and front plate tickets all weekend long , but that’s the nature of a popular gathering place. You want a “spirited drive,” go somewhere else. You take the risk if you choose to do it in the vicinity of Alice’s.

On some occasions we would go to Buck’s, a great place for b reakfast and check out all the cool stuff on display, hanging from the walls and ceilings.

The police have been patrol ling that area for decades. It is generally too active of an area for the spirited bunch. From cyclists to Sunday drive crowd to contend with , the pace is best when relaxed rather than aggressive. Many motorcycles would blast down Skyline and retell ho w they went down while waiting for a table.........  not my idea of a good morning ride.
